Giving destined to schools and universities in the UK and USA

The British and American people remain the most generous towards education. What the British allocated to their universities last year amounted to £898000 of which 243000 came from the Rockefeller foundation and the remnant, that is 655000 came from them (the government). Even though the British contribution towards schooling is relatively important, it remains minimal compared to American giving which reached £11 millions over a single week in December last. Mr Duke has released 4 million dollars towards the foundation of a university in North Carolina, his native state. Mr Eastman, founder of Kodak gave $8millions and a half to the University of Rochester and $4 millions and a half to the Massachusetts institute of Technology. The total of his giving to education rose to $15 millions as he also allocated $2millions to the Tuskegee Institute and the Hampton Institute and others towards the education of Black Americans. The US Department of Education said that giving allocated to universities colleges and vocational institutes reached last year the sum of $77 millions, corresponding to about £16 millions. Such countries whose wealthy elites prove generous towards education are bound to surpass the others.
